Do I need a licence for an air rifle?

An air rifle needs to be licensed, like any other firearm. It is a common misconception that it doesn't, as one is not needed to the UK. But an air rifle is treated like any other firearm in Ireland, as regards licencing. The licence costs the same as any other licence, i.e. 80 for three years. Call us to 056 444 9010 if you're interested in going for a course.

Should I buy an air rifle or a rifle?

An air rifle is ideal for beginners or people who are not fully comfortable with using a .22 or .17HMR rifle. Our air rifle customers range from the target shooting enthusiasts to people who have vermin problems inside sheds, e.g. pigeons and rats. The air rifle is ideal for this type of shooting as a normal rifle’s bullet will penetrate galvanised sheeting. The air rifle is a much safer option for this.

An air rifle can be bought spring loaded or gas powered. Generally the more powerful air rifles are the gas powered rifles.
